Responsible Investment


The UTA Trustee believes that taking a long-term approach to infrastructure investing best achieves the expected characteristics and benefits of the asset class.  Accordingly, the UTA Trustee and the Manager aim to deliver sustainable performance over time by taking advantage of opportunities and managing risks across the life cycle of its assets.  UoA consider ESG factors are relevant to the selection and long-term performance and risk profile of infrastructure assets. Consideration of ESG factors is integrated into the investment and asset management process, including the concept of sustainability, to ensure decision-making occurs in a manner that enhances the creation of long-term value for investors both at the individual investment company level as well as at the portfolio level.

The UTA Trustee and Managers’ principles and commitment to ESG factors are outlined in the ESG Policy UTA has developed an ESG policy that reflects the principles and approach to the integration of ESG issues into investment decisions.  This policy can be found below.

The UTA Trustee regards the UN supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) as a key framework for integration of ESG issues into investment decision making and is a signatory to the PRI, as it is globally recognised by participants in the investment industry. The six principles are as follows:

  1. Incorporate ESG issues into investment analysis and decision-making processes
  2. Be active owners and incorporate ESG issues into ownership policies and practices
  3. Seek appropriate disclosure on ESG issues by the entities into which investments are made
  4. Promote acceptance and implementation of the Principles within the investment industry
  5. Work together to enhance effectiveness in implementing the Principles
  6. Report on activities and progress towards implementing the Principles
